Competitions

As you know we are a competitive Judo club, and we encourage all members red belt (6th kyu) and above to compete. This term we have one competition and it’s coming up in 4 weeks’ time in Thetford. I’ve outlined key details below and attached a document with all the event details. Please let me know if you are interested in competing! If you’re unsure or have questions about competing, give me a quick message and I’ll answer them for you. Even if you don’t want to compete, it’s a great opportunity for beginners to watch some competitive Judo and it would be great to have you there to support the team (there are no fees for spectators!), so let me know if you intend to come along.

14th November 2021 – Breckland Senior Open

Location: Breckland Leisure Centre, Thetford, IP24 1JD

Entry Fee: £20 (The club will sponsor half of the fee for students, colleges also have bursaries which you can check here)

Competition level: 3

i.e. Aimed at more experienced players. I would say this is a good event for anybody above orange/ green belt, see https://www.britishjudo.org.uk/my-judo/competition-organisation/competition-pathway/ for more information on competition levels.

4th December 2021 – SUKT at Sheffield University

SUKT is a kyu grade competition (brown belt and below; no black belts) organised by Sheffield University Judo Club.

More details on their website (www.sukt.uk).

Although it’s a bit further afield, we have sent players in the past, who have found the experience useful.

If you are interested in competing, or if you would like any advice, please let the club captains and coaches know.
